A New Zealand based astro-physicist who has dedicated her career to researching the mysteries of deep space, says it was her arrival in this country eight years ago that she made a critical discovery - the comfort in being herself. JJ Eldridge is an associate professor physics at Auckland University, and says a turning point in her life came while mentoring members of the transgender and gender-diverse community on campus. Dr Eldridge was in Nelson this week to give public talks on the moon in science and in science fiction, and on her research into binary stars in the universe. She spoke to our reporter Tracy Neal about life, the universe, and how she arrived in at the end of the earth.
