A vegan pest-control trapper finds the beauty in his work.
Produced by Better Ancestors
In episode 9, Better Ancestors visits Brad Windust, trustee of Bay Bush Action. For 10 years, Brad and his organisation (along with his dog Milo) have been trapping invasive mammal pests in a section of Ōpua State Forest, and have seen unbelievable regrowth of native bush and the return of countless native species in that time. Brad is a vegan and loves all animals, but sees the reality that without combating the invasion of extremely harmful species like possums and stoats, we will lose many of the beautiful and unique native species of Aotearoa. Also, as possums consume trees and vegetation, they trigger a cascading collapse which destroys one of our best existing carbon sinks, native NZ forests.
